Emergency Shelter Program The Beth-El Center Emergency Shelter program provides a welcoming and safe environment in which individuals and families are provided the support that will assist them in moving towards success in housing and employment with the support of community resources.
Our low-barrier, housing-first approach creates an inclusive space where individuals and families can rebuild their lives, work towards personal goals, and thrive. Our shelter program offers dorm-style living to single men, single women and six individual rooms for families with children. All residents work closely with an assigned case manager to develop a personalized service plan tailored to their unique aspirations. Supportive Housing In 13 years, no Supportive Housing household has returned to homelessness!
Liberty Pointe apartments (at 85 New Haven Avenue in Milford) are a combination of affordable housing and supportive services for households with a history of chronic homelessness and complex medical needs. These supportive services are individually designed and provided by a professional case manager who maintains an office in the building. The case manager works collaboratively with the families and individuals to help them learn and implement the needed skills to access the resources necessary to maintain self-sufficiency while maintaining housing. No Freeze Shelter The Beth El Center operates a warming center in our Community Kitchen Dining Hall which is open to unsheltered individuals. This is a crucial support and is seen as a lifesaving program in the community.
We not only provide a warm place to escape the cold, but we also offer food and hot beverages to our guests. This program, made possible by donor contributions, offers a safe and welcoming space for vulnerable individuals during the harshest of conditions. [ more ] | |
Diversion Services Beth-El Center's Diversion Services support households who are at imminent risk of homelessness or are literally homeless.
We provide shelter diversion services along the Connecticut shoreline from Milford to Madison and in the lower Naugatuck Valley area. The goal is to assist in stabilizing households as soon as possible and help them avoid entering the emergency homeless response system ... Diversion Services — Same-Day Support & Walk-In Hours No need to call 2-1-1 first. Beth-El Center's Diversion Specialists complete CAN assessments on-site and provide same-day support whenever possible. What Diversion Does Purpose of the CAN appointment: Understand the household's immediate situation and determine whether the client can be diverted from homelessness. When funding allows, financial assistance may help a household stabilize without entering shelter (e.g., landlord or family mediation, upfront rental costs, relocation support). At your appointment, we can: Assess literal homelessness status. Who we help: Individuals and families in the Greater New Haven CAN who are unsheltered or at imminent risk of homelessness. We serve the Connecticut shoreline (Milford → Madison) and the lower Naugatuck Valley.
